Entering Safe mode

Reboot your computer while holding or tapping the F8 key. Choose Safe Mode or Last Known Good Configuration and press Enter.

The Safe Mode allow a boot with only the minimum required system drivers. If this works fine you will know that one of the drivers and/or programs that you are normally using on start up are causing the problem and you will have to trouble shoot by adding back components one at a time.

Last Known Good Configuration

Common problems that can be solved by choosing the Last Known Good Configuration.

1) You can see the BIOS, hardware detection during booting, also can see the Windows XP Logo, then the video suddenly blacked out after Win XP fully booted up. No video signal, monitor's LED start to flash. Num lock can be toggled, meaning system is not hang. Pressing the Power Button will automatically trigger system shutdown.
